Main issues, as the Inspector framed them
- the effect of the advertisements on the visual amenity of the area and the character and appearance of the Fulford Village Conservation Area
What decided it
The V-stack sign's visual obtrusiveness and prominence at the conservation area entrance made it inappropriate in that location and harmful to the character and appearance of the Fulford Village Conservation Area, whereas the remaining advertisements were not harmful to visual amenity or conservation area character.
The benefits of the residential development and need for directional signage were outweighed by the identified harm to the conservation area character and visual amenity caused by the V-stack sign; the remaining advertisements caused no such harm and were therefore acceptable.
