The search
Search every word of every letter
More than 160,000 decision letters, searchable in full. Every word you type must appear; quote a phrase for the Inspector's exact words. Newest first by default, or ranked by where the Inspector's reasoning matches, with the matching passage highlighted and the letter itself one tap away.
Narrow it by issue, NPPF reference, use class, authority, year, the presumption or housing land supply. And the search is honest about breadth: a term too common to rank falls back to newest first and says so, a total at the ceiling reads “more than”, and a passage from our reading of a letter is labelled as ours, never passed off as the Inspector's words.

Search an issue and the appeals arrive; but which authority governs the point? The standard planning cases, from Wheatcroft on amendments to Finney on section 73, each stated plainly, each linked to the judgment, and each counted live across the decision letters, so you can see what Inspectors are applying this month and what has gone quiet.
Currency you can see
A principle is only as good as its standing. Every case shows how often the corpus engages it, how often in the last 90 days, and the date it was last applied. An authority Inspectors have stopped citing shows you that, in numbers, before you build an argument on it.

One tap lists the appeal decisions citing a case, so you read the principle as Inspectors actually apply it. Another opens the judgment itself at The National Archives. The summaries state what each authority is routinely cited for; the judgment, as ever, is the law.
