What decided it

The standing seam zinc roof would be clearly distinct and different from the established local vernacular design style and character, causing substantial visual harm that would not be outweighed by the limited benefits of the scheme.

The limited social and economic benefits of the proposal would not be of sufficient weight to outweigh the significant adverse visual impact on the landscape of the Lake District National Park and the less than substantial harm to the World Heritage Site, to which great weight must be attached.
