What decided it

The sensitive, inset design of the roof terrace would preserve the hipped roof form and not harm the character or appearance of the building or local area, according with Policy LP1 despite the general advice in the SPD.

The innovative contemporary design supported by Policy LP1 outweighed the general guidance in the SPD against altering traditional roof forms, given the sensitive and modest nature of the particular proposal.
