What decided it

The harmful effect on character and appearance caused by the excessive height and massing of the roof extension in a constrained rear courtyard setting, combined with unacceptable harm to the outlook of neighbouring occupants, outweighed any benefits of the development.

The benefits of improved living environment and sustainable design features did not outweigh the significant harm to character and appearance and the unacceptable harm to neighbouring outlook.
