Main issues, as the Inspector framed them
- Whether or not the appeal site is an appropriate location for the proposed new dwelling, having regard to (i) the development strategy for the area, (ii) the effects of the proposed development on the character and appearance of the area, and (iii) its effects on living conditions for neighbouring residents
What decided it
The proposed chalet bungalow would not be in keeping with the character of the area due to its scale, massing and design, failing to comply with criterion d) of Policy SP3 and causing significant harm that outweighed the modest housing benefit.
The modest benefit of providing an additional dwelling was outweighed by the significant harm to character and appearance and the conflict with the development plan's plan-led approach to infill development.
