What decided it

The loss of light to the neighbouring property would be limited in extent and timing, with the kitchen having alternative light sources, such that it would not result in material harm to living conditions.

The limited harm to daylight and sunlight at the neighbouring property was outweighed by the acceptability of the extension proposal in accordance with local plan policy and NPPF guidance on safe and healthy living conditions.
