What decided it

The significant harm to the character and appearance of the conservation area and the openness of the green belt must not be permitted to continue longer than absolutely necessary, and three months is a reasonable period for the physical removal of the container.

The competing private interests of the appellants in retaining the container for storage weighed against the public interest in protecting the character and appearance of the Trawden Forest Conservation Area and the openness of the green belt, with significant weight attached to the latter.
