What decided it
The proposed development, although not strictly meeting the definitions of infilling or rounding off, would be small-scale and consistent with the broad aims of the development strategy for smaller villages, would not harm the character and appearance of the area or the green gap, and would not have an unacceptable effect on highway safety.
The benefits of small-scale tourism development in a rural location, consistent with the development strategy and sustainable growth of rural tourism, outweighed any concerns about the strict application of infilling and rounding off definitions, given the preservation of character, appearance and the open gap.
