Main issues, as the Inspector framed them
- The effect of the advertisement on the amenity of the area including whether it would preserve or enhance the character or appearance of the Brixton Road Conservation Area
What decided it
The proposed LED digital advertisement would harm the visual amenity and character of the Brixton Road Conservation Area contrary to Policy Q17 of the Lambeth Local Plan 2020–2035 and section 72(1) of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990.
The minimal weight afforded to the benefits of providing advertising space and supporting retail activity did not outweigh the harm to visual amenity and the character and appearance of the conservation area.
