What decided it

The modest scale of the extension, its setback position from the frontage, and the precedent of a larger approved extension on the same site, combined with the ability to control materials through conditions, meant the proposal would preserve rather than harm the Conservation Area and non-designated heritage asset.

The loss of some openness to the side of the property and covering of small arched windows was outweighed by the modest scale, subservient design and setback position of the extension, which would preserve the character and appearance of the Conservation Area and the locally important non-designated heritage asset.
