Main issues, as the Inspector framed them

  • The effect of the dwelling in the revised scheme on the character and appearance of the surrounding area
  • The effect on European Protected Sites

What decided it

The removal of the upper storey and replacement of light-coloured cladding with dark timber boarding would sufficiently reduce the visual prominence and scale of the dwelling to overcome the character and appearance harm identified in the previous appeal, combined with the provision of adequate mitigation measures for European Protected Sites through SANG and SAMM contributions.
