What decided it

The proposal's role as low carbon energy associated infrastructure with strong national policy support, combined with its location being dictated by proximity to the National Grid Substation and the acceptability of impacts with mitigation, outweighed the countryside location conflict with local settlement policies.

The support for the proposal set down in the Framework, Energy White Paper and National Policy Statement weighed strongly in favour, outweighing the introduction of built form into open countryside contrary to local settlement strategy.
