What decided it

The proposed two storey side extension would unacceptably harm the character and appearance of the pair of dwellings and the street scene by unbalancing the existing uniform gaps above first floor level, conflicting with Lambeth Local Plan Policies Q5 and Q11.

The harm to character and appearance of the host building and street scene clearly outweighed the benefits of partially screening the existing gable wall and dormer cheek and the benefits for the appellant and their family from additional accommodation.
