What decided it
The harm to the character and appearance of the area caused by the scale, bulk, siting and design of the proposed dwellings, which would introduce a suburban appearance distinctly different from the spacious rural development pattern, outweighed the limited benefit of two dwellings on previously developed land in an area with ample housing land supply.
The great weight afforded to the conflict with design policies and harm to character and appearance was not outweighed by the limited contribution to housing supply (given ample Council supply and no demonstrated local need), neutral economic impacts, and other limited or neutral considerations; the appeal was dismissed.
