Main issues, as the Inspector framed them
- Whether the proposal would preserve a Grade II listed building, Yew Tree Farmhouse (Ref: 1170504), and any of the features of special architectural or historic interest that it possesses
What decided it
The cumulative effect of the internal partitioning, mezzanines and walkway would result in significant enclosure of the barn interior, substantially detracting from the special interest of the listed building, and the public benefits of the proposal were insufficient to outweigh this less than substantial harm.
The less than substantial harm to the special interest of the Grade II listed building, given considerable weight, was not outweighed by the public benefits of securing the optimum viable use, providing modest heritage benefits, and limited economic and biodiversity gains.
