Main issues, as the Inspector framed them
- the effect of the proposed development on the character and appearance of the area
- highway safety, with particular reference to parking
What decided it
The allocation of the site as a housing reserve site under the development plan, combined with the imminent urbanisation of the surrounding area through approved neighbouring developments, made the principle of residential development acceptable and the proposed scheme appropriate in scale and design.
The modest urbanising impacts of the development were outweighed by the site's allocation for housing, its inclusion in the Council's housing land supply, the need to boost housing supply, and the fact that neighbouring approved developments would already significantly alter the character of the area.
