What decided it

The timber fence's height, solid design and prominent position along St Georges Road created a stark, defensive enclosure that eroded the street's sense of openness and contrasted with the low-level, unobtrusive boundaries characteristic of the surrounding residential area, whereas the side extension's modest height and deep position within the plot ensured it would remain subservient and unobtrusive.
