What decided it

The proportionality, setback and subservience of the dormers in Appeal B meant they would preserve the original roof shape's legibility and maintain the terrace's architectural consistency, whereas the large, full-width rear dormer in Appeal A would unacceptably erode the roof's originality and uniformity.
