The proposed linked dormers would fail to preserve or enhance the character or appearance of the Poet's Corner Conservation Area by introducing uncharacteristic mass and scale that would dominate the roofscape and create visual imbalance within the coherent group of Victorian terraces, contrary to the Lambeth Design Guide SPD and development plan policies.
The less than substantial harm to the conservation area, characterised as a matter of great importance and weight, was not outweighed by the personal benefit of a more functional family home and neutral considerations regarding amenity and materials.
