The proximity of the proposed brick gate pillars to the trunk of Tree 11 (Sycamore) and the likely foundation requirements would cause significant harm to the tree's health and viability that could not be mitigated by condition, whereas the extensions could be constructed using a no-dig method with mini piles that would protect the trees.
