Main issues, as the Inspector framed them
- The effect of the proposed development on the character and appearance of the area
What decided it
The substantial change to the host dwelling's appearance and the visual harm arising from the scale and form of the extension, which would be out of keeping with the simple proportions of the existing dwelling and would jar with the appearance of neighbouring dwellings, outweighed the benefits of home adaptation.
The benefits arising from the proposal, including home adaptations and provision of a ground floor bedroom and bathroom, did not outweigh the significant harm to the character and appearance of the area.
