What decided it
The removal of the original indented return and articulation at first floor level would significantly erode the established character and appearance of the terrace, contrary to national and local design policies.
The appellant's objective of achieving additional living space and facilities for a large family and making sustainable use of housing land does not outweigh the harm to the character and appearance of the area, as paragraph 124 of the Framework states this should not be at the expense of maintaining an area's prevailing character and setting.
