What decided it
The significant harm to character and appearance caused by the incongruous projection of residential development into the countryside, combined with the unsustainable location with poor access to services, outweighed the modest benefits of providing self-build housing.
The community benefits arising from the provision of self-build housing and the Council's duties under the Self-build and Custom Housebuilding Act 2015 were not of sufficient weight to outweigh the identified harm to character and appearance and the conflict with development plan policies regarding sustainable location.
