Main issues, as the Inspector framed them

  • The effect of the proposed extension on living conditions for neighbouring occupiers, with particular regard to overshadowing, and whether or not it would be overbearing

What decided it

The very close proximity of the extension to the rear boundary (0.8m) combined with its elevated position would create an overbearing and intrusive impact on the living conditions of occupiers at 469 Green Lane, which could not be outweighed by the absence of harm to other neighbours.

The principle of development being acceptable did not outweigh the harm to neighbouring living conditions caused by the overbearing nature of the extension.
