What decided it

The substantial size and mansard-style form of the proposed extension would appear as a discordant and incongruous feature that would disrupt the unbroken butterfly roof pattern and uniformity characterising the terrace, thereby causing harm to the character and appearance of the area contrary to the development plan.

The appellant's reliance on housing optimisation policies in the London Plan 2021 did not outweigh the harm that would arise to the character and appearance of the area.
