What decided it

The reduction in built volume, footprint and hardstanding, combined with improvements to openness from demolition of the stables, offset the slight harm from eastward spread of built form, and the dwelling's modest scale and separation from the listed building meant no harm to its significance.

The benefits to openness in spatial and visual terms from the reduction in development scale and removal of the stables offset the slight harm from the greater spread of built form to the east.
