Main issues, as the Inspector framed them
- the effect of the development on the character and appearance of the host dwelling and surrounding area
- the living conditions of neighbouring occupiers of Nos. 9 and 13 Tatam Road, with particular regard to outlook, and noise and disturbance
What decided it
The outbuilding, although exceeding SPD guidance, was modest in scale and experienced alongside comparable neighbouring outbuildings, and therefore accorded with Policy DMP1 and did not significantly harm character, appearance or neighbouring living conditions.
The modest scale and sympathetic materials of the outbuilding, together with its integration within the existing pattern of neighbouring outbuildings, outweighed its non-compliance with the SPD guidance.
