Main issues, as the Inspector framed them
- The effect of the proposal on the character and appearance of the area
What decided it
The uncharacteristic proximity of the two-storey extension to the adjacent footway would erode the spacious quality and distinctive pattern of the surrounding area, causing unacceptable harm to character and appearance that outweighs the benefit of additional living space.
The benefit of creating additional living space and improving living accommodation for the appellant was outweighed by the harm caused to the character and appearance of the area and the resulting conflict with the development plan.
