What decided it

The excessive size and bulk of the roof extension, appearing as a full second storey with modern flat roof design, is fundamentally incongruous with the bungalow character of the surrounding area and causes material harm to neighbouring amenity that cannot be remedied by cladding or other mitigation.

The minor benefits of family accommodation and energy conservation do not outweigh the significant harm to character and appearance and neighbouring living conditions
