What decided it
The bulky and cumbersome expansion of the side wing would denuded the subordinate relationship between the wing and main house and create incongruous features that would unacceptably harm the character and appearance of the property and surrounding area.
The local MP's support and the appellant's desire for additional working-from-home space did not outweigh the clear harm to character and appearance, and the proposal provided no material energy efficiency benefits over the fallback 2020 permission.
