What decided it

The solar panels, when detailed with uniform dark colour and set flush within the roof plane of a modern but traditionally-designed garage, would not cause discordant visual impact given the spatial relationships, setback, and mature tree backdrop, and the renewable energy benefits and policy support for low carbon development outweighed any limited conflict with design guidance.
