Main issues, as the Inspector framed them
- The effect of the development on the character and appearance of the landscape and countryside, having regard to development plan policies
What decided it
The site's close association with the built-up area of Calow, combined with its strong physical and visual containment, means the development would not cause significant harm to the character and appearance of the landscape and countryside, and therefore complies with Policy LC3 as an exception site for affordable housing.
The localised harm to the landscape character, which would reduce over time, was outweighed by the benefits of delivering 36 affordable dwellings to meet identified housing need, economic benefits during construction and operation, and social benefits including improved public rights of way.
