What decided it
The proposed development would constitute disproportionate growth in a small rural settlement extending into open countryside in an unsustainable location, and the limited housing benefits do not outweigh the significant harms to character, appearance and sustainability.
The benefits of contributing to housing land supply and providing construction jobs, together with some contribution to sustaining local services and net biodiversity gain, were outweighed by the harm to character and appearance of the settlement and adjoining countryside and the harm from locating development in an unsustainable location reliant mainly on car travel.
