What decided it

The mansard roof extension, being set back behind the front parapet with a shallow pitched roof slope and low-profile conservation-type roof lights, would not break the important parapet line of the terrace and would be largely concealed in streetscene views, thereby preserving the character and appearance of the conservation area.
