What decided it

The canopies, by their scale, siting, colour and simple design, integrate comfortably with the host building and preserve and enhance the character and appearance of the Conservation Area, with no adverse effects identified.

Applying Policy S4, the benefits of approving the canopies are not substantially outweighed by any adverse effects when assessed against the national decision-making policies in the Framework, and substantial weight is attached to the positive effect afforded to the conservation of the designated heritage asset.
