What decided it

The proposed illuminated screens would cause serious harm to the character and appearance of the Hucknall Conservation Area, failing to preserve or enhance it as required by section 72 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 and the development plan policies.

The limited economic public benefits were not compensatory enough for the very real and harmful impact upon the historic environment and High Street through the poor design and visibility of the displays.
