Use the appeal record in Claude or ChatGPT
The decisions the free search reads, available inside the assistant you already use. Add the connector once and ask in plain English. The assistant finds the decisions, reads the Inspector’s main issues and what decided each case, and compares them for you. The judgement stays yours.
Connector address

- Claude. Open Settings, then Connectors, choose to add a custom connector and paste the address. No sign-in is needed.
- ChatGPT. Open Settings, then Connectors, turn on developer mode and add the address as a new connector.
- Anything else that speaks MCP. Claude Code, Cursor and the rest take the same address. It is a standard Model Context Protocol server over HTTP.
Menus move between releases. Look for “connectors” in the assistant’s settings.

What the connector gives the assistant
search_appeals
Full-text search over the decisions, including the letter text where one was published. Quoted phrases, a date range, newest or relevance.
get_appeal_decision
One decision by case number: site, outcome, procedure, proposal, and where the letter has been read, the main issues, the decisive factor, the planning balance, the policies and the judgments cited.
recent_decisions
The newest decisions across England in the last 30 days, or the latest for one authority.
list_authorities
Every English planning authority with decisions on record, with its code.
authority_record
An authority's record since 2016: share allowed, time to decision, and the split by appeal type and procedure.
What it does not do
It does not predict outcomes, advise on prospects or argue a case. The connector hands the assistant the record, dated: what the Inspector said and when. It tells the assistant to work the same way.
It is free and it is rate limited per connection, so the record cannot be copied out through it. Some linked cases and some letters are missing at source.
The Inspector’s full letter held on file, search by meaning, appeals lodged and not yet decided, and every decision around a site drawn on a map are in the app.
Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Decisions are those published by the Planning Inspectorate for England, with personal data redacted at source. This connector is for research. It is not an exhaustive record and not advice; verify against the Inspectorate’s own record before relying on a decision.
