What decided it

The significant and harmful disruption to the established building line along Ainsdale Road caused by the height, width and depth of the proposed side extension, which would be clearly visible from the public realm and would not be mitigated by landscaping.

The limited benefits of additional floorspace and improved insulation did not outweigh the significant harm to the character and appearance of the area.
