The proposed two-storey side extension would create a continuous terraced appearance by significantly reducing the visual gap between the host property and the neighbouring extension, causing significant visual harm to the character and appearance of the surrounding area that outweighs any claimed benefits.

The visual harm to character and appearance caused by the development outweighed the benefits of additional living space and temporary construction employment.
