Main issues, as the Inspector framed them
- The effect of the proposals on the amenity of the appeal site and its surroundings
What decided it
The scale, height and elevated position of the proposed advertisements on the bus shelter roof would appear unduly dominant, intrusive and incongruous within the street scene, harming the setting of the grade II* listed building and the character and appearance of the conservation areas.
The limited weight afforded to potential benefits in attracting visitors to Oxford Street did not outweigh the harm to amenity identified through the advertisements' visual dominance and incongruity with the elegant architectural character of the area.
