What decided it
The expanse of glazing and large roof lanterns would create a dominant, incongruous feature that would fail to preserve the historic architectural detailing and setting of the grade II* listed building, and the private benefits of additional living space were insufficient to outweigh the great weight required to be given to heritage conservation.
The less than substantial harm to the significance of the designated heritage asset outweighed the private benefits of improved living conditions and additional internal space, as the property already functioned successfully as a dwelling and the proposals were not necessary to achieve optimum viable use.
