What decided it
The harm to character and appearance through the introduction of a backland dwelling with severely limited curtilage that would be out of keeping with the prevailing pattern of spacious detached properties, combined with harm to the living conditions of adjoining occupiers through noise and disturbance, outweighed the limited social and economic benefits of the proposal.
The social and economic benefits of the proposal, including housing contribution and redevelopment of an underutilised garage site, were insufficient to outweigh the harm to character and appearance and living conditions of adjoining occupiers.
