The proposal's design, scale and forward position within the plot would make it overly prominent and out of character within the streetscene on this main route through Thorley, conflicting with Policy DM2 and NPPF paragraph 130.

The benefits of sustainable re-use, improved visibility and removal of extensions did not outweigh the unduly harmful impact on the character and appearance of the site and area.
