What decided it

The conservation area's mixed character and the modern nature of the appeal property meant that the proposed fibre cement cladding would harmonise with the building and not appear unduly out of place, thus preserving the conservation area's character and appearance.

The benefits of improved insulation through the proposed cladding were balanced against the concern about its non-traditional appearance, with the balance tipping in favour of the proposal given the modern character of the building and the mixed character of the conservation area.
