The fascia and projecting signs would harm visual amenity and fail to preserve or enhance the conservation area character, whereas the menu sign would preserve amenity and respect the local context.

The commercial benefits of the fascia and projecting signs were outweighed by the harm to visual amenity and the conservation area; the menu sign presented no such conflict and was allowed.
