What decided it
The proposed extension would significantly increase the size and scale of the host dwelling, appearing prominent and dominating with poor proportions that would conflict with local plan policies and AONB conservation requirements, and would cause unacceptable overbearing visual impact on the neighbouring property.
The benefits for the appellant and their family from improved and additional accommodation were outweighed by the unacceptable harm to the character and appearance of the host building and its setting within the AONB, and the unacceptable harm to the living conditions of neighbouring occupiers.
