What decided it

The prominent corner position of the property combined with the substantial width of the proposed side extension and resulting large and complex roof structure would create a prominent and discordant feature in the streetscene, causing harm to the character and appearance of the area contrary to Policy DMHD1.

The harm to character and appearance of the area outweighed the appellant's arguments regarding the Hillingdon Residential Guide allowances and the larger site size; the adopted Development Plan policy was afforded greater weight.
