What decided it

The remodelled building would improve the overall appearance of the property and remain in keeping with the character of the area, with the rear extension having limited prominence in street views and the front gable providing a positive contemporary design enhancement.

The loss of some positive elements of the building's character was outweighed by the replacement of negative elements and the overall improvement to the appearance of the house and its contribution to the wider area.
