What decided it

The proposal would cause significant harm to the character and appearance of the High Weald AONB by introducing substantial residential development in an unsustainable location, and these adverse impacts significantly and demonstrably outweigh the moderate economic and social benefits of housing delivery.

The economic, social and environmental benefits of 9 new dwellings, construction employment, local patronage, landscaping and biodiversity enhancements were weighed against the significant harm to the AONB character and appearance and the unsustainable location requiring dependency on private motor vehicles; the adverse impacts significantly and demonstrably outweighed the benefits.
